The third annual event is a FREE one-day eco celebration focusing on the merits of mindful, sustainable living while educating and encouraging Houstonians to preserve, conserve and enhance our city and the Earth. Developed by Air Alliance Houston, Earth Day Houston is a collaboration with the City of Houston and various green nonprofit agencies.

Planned activities include the Earth Zone featuring interactive environmental awareness activities highlighting land, air, water, and renewable energy. Urban Harvest Farmers Market will be open in support of locally-grown produce, and Green Team America will host a recycling bin art contest between Houston-area high schools. The H-E-B Kids Energy Zone and Stage provides kids’ entertainment and recycled art with City ArtWorks, while Discovery Greens’ popular water feature and playscape energize kids of all ages.

Green Bank’s Environmental Education Zone, full of learning activities for kids developed by representative agencies of the Citizens’ Environmental Coalition, will also distribute a Green Passport card. Festival guests are encouraged to visit the air, water, land, and renewable energy zones to learn about each zone. Completed passport card holders will be eligible to win tickets to several green-friendly local excursions courtesy of Green Bank.

If you are a non profit organization with a green initiative and would like to be on-site in the Environmental Education Zone at Earth Day Houston please contact Shana Sonnier.
